Chair of the House of Commons EFRA Select Committee, Neil Parish MP, has welcomed new measures announced by DEFRA to support dairy farmers through the coronavirus crisis. DEFRA’s support for the industry, announced last night, entitles producers to claim up to £10,000 to cover income lost during April and May as a result of lockdown measures.

Chair of the EFRA Select Committee, Neil Parish MP, said:

“The pandemic has hit dairy farmers hard, and the support they will need from Government has been one of the most urgent issues in the EFRA Committee’s ongoing coronavirus and food supply inquiry.

“I welcome these measures, which will help to sustain livelihoods, and ensure that the British produce used in our industries will be there once we return to normal life.”
