We are currently seeking applications for a Meat Hygiene Inspector within Food Stadards Scotland based in Aberdeen. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. The Meat Hygiene Inspector (MHI) role is one of the key front-line operational roles within the FSS. These staff deliver Official Controls (OC) in approved premises across Scotland, ensuring that meat produced is safe for human consumption. The core work for the Meat Hygiene Inspector is the delivery of Official Controls for related to meat production in Red and White meat slaughterhouses and Game handling establishments (GHE’s) within Scotland. At all times an FSS MHI works under the technical direction of an FSS Official Veterinarian (OV) who is the technical lead for field teams in the post mortem inspection and verification of the Food Business Operator’s (FBO) compliance with all relevant legislation as stated in the FSS’s Manual for Official Controls (SMOC).
The postholders will be working in abbatoirs in the Aberdeen and Perth/Brechin Areas.
FDQ Level 4 Red Meat Diploma or a REHIS Diploma in Red Meat Inspection.
