Vietnam has culled 43,150 pigs, equivalent to about 2,157 tons, since early this year to curb the spread of African swine fever, according to a report from Vietnam News Agency which cited the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The story reported that in the last three weeks outbreaks have been confirmed in 199 villages and small cities in the provinces of Lang Son, Cao Bang and Bac Kan.

The fever outbreaks have been found in small livestock households failing to ensure safety conditions, the news agency quoted Pham Van Dong, head of the Department of Animal Health under the ministry as saying.
