Dawn Meats and Aldi have signed a new, five-year supply contract worth €125m.

Dawn Meats has been supplying Aldi since 2010 and, under the terms of the new deal, it will increase the amount it sells to Aldi by 35%. It will also add six new lines to the Aldi range.

The Waterford-based meat supplier said it will recruit 15 new workers on the back of the new contract.

It also said the deal has provided it with the confidence to “accelerate” a €5m expansion plan for its facility in Waterford.

Dawn Meats has been operating in Waterford since 1980 and now has 11 sites across the country.

The Aldi deal comes on the back of Dawn Meats securing approval to export to the South Korean market, which recently opened its doors to Irish beef.
