Russia’s Pork Production to Reach 7.1 Million Tonnes by 2030
UFA. Aug 22 (Interfax) – The National Union of Pork Producers forecasts that Russia will increase annual pork production to 7.1 million tonnes in live weight by 2030, Bashkir Meat Company LLC said.
“By 2030 pork production in the country will increase to 7.1 million tonnes per year in live weight. This means an increase of 1 million tonnes in 2024-2030,” the company reported union CEO Yury Kovalev as saying.
He said one of the main trends in the development of pig farming in the next seven years will be an increase in meat yield in live weight per breeding sow per year with a simultaneous decrease in the feed conversion rate to minimal figures.
He also said consumption of this meat will also continue to grow thanks to its affordability.
Russian pork production grew by 5.3% year-on-year to 3.04 million tonnes in the first half of 2024.
Kovalev was reported as saying earlier that pork production in Russia’s industrial farming segment is expected to grow at about the same rate this year as in 2023, or around 5%. The Federal Statistics Service reported that pork production in Russia rose 6.5% to almost 5.6 million tonnes in 2023.
Bashkir Meat Company, a division of regional group Tavros, became one of Russia’s 11 largest pork producers in 2023 with output of 115,200 tonnes, according to the National Union of Pork Producers.
