Brazil’s Meat Production Hits Record High
Brazil’s meat industry reached new heights in the third quarter of 2024. The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) reported unprecedented numbers in beef, pork, and poultry production. This surge reflects Brazil’s growing dominance in the global meat market.
Beef production hit a milestone, surpassing 10 million head for the first time in a single quarter. The country processed 10.37 million cattle, marking a 15.3% increase from the previous year. This growth stems from strong domestic and international demand for Brazilian beef.
Poultry production also set new records. Farmers slaughtered 1.62 billion chickens, a 2.8% rise from 2023. This figure represents the highest quarterly volume ever recorded in Brazil’s poultry sector. The country maintains its position as the world’s largest chicken meat exporter.
Pork production followed suit with impressive gains. The industry processed 14.95 million pigs, up 2.1% from the same period in 2023. This growth reflects Brazil’s expanding presence in global pork markets, with exports reaching new quarterly highs.
