We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Technical Quality Manager to join our Meat Manufacturing team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of our meat products, overseeing all aspects of technical and quality assurance processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement quality assurance policies and procedures for meat manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of manufacturing facilities to assess compliance with food safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, procurement, and supply chain, to address quality-related issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage and mentor a team of quality assurance professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices.
  • Monitor and analyse quality performance metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement to enhance product quality and efficiency.
  • Act as a liaison between Morrisons and external regulatory agencies, representing the company in audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Work closely with product development teams
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to meat manufacturing, providing recommendations for process improvements and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the quality and integrity of raw materials
  • Champion a culture of food safety and quality throughout the organization, providing training and education to employees at all levels.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives within the operation, identifying opportunities to reduce waste and enhance resource efficiency while maintaining product quality.
  • Represent Morrisons in industry forums and working groups, actively participating in discussions and initiatives related to food safety, quality, and sustainability.

About You

As well as strong leadership skills leading your team courageously and by example, you will also:
  • Be working in the same or similar role within a food manufacturing environment
  • Food Science degree or equivalent
  • A strong working knowledge of HACCP ro deliver product safety
  • Ability to identify risk and manage to an acceptable level
  • Strong operational capability and commercial awareness
  • Leading food safety and product quality incident management teams, approving and delivering actions

About the site

At our Spalding site in Lincolnshire, we cure bacon and supply our stores with over 190 meat products from beef brisket to pork loins and pork belly.

Our team of 780 colleagues also processes beef and pork for our Farmers Boy team to use in our pies, sausages and cooked meats. Open five days a week, this recently redeveloped facility covers 15,000 square meters on 7.5 acres of land.
