This is a senior commercial role focused on developing and growing sales performance across imported global chilled and frozen beef and lamb. You will work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to build long-term category strategies, develop supply chains, and deliver profitable growth within a global PLC environment.
The Role
As Commercial Trading Manager, you will:

Develop and grow sales performance across protein categories
-
Build and maintain strong customer and supplier relationships
-
Lead strategic category planning and long-term growth initiatives
-
Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Technical, Category, Planning and Commercial teams
-
Take a lead role in customer and supplier meetings, presentations and visits
-
Identify and develop new supply chains where required
Key Responsibilities
You will be accountable for:
-
Managing the customer and supplier interface to ensure sustainable category growth
-
Developing and implementing long-term commercial strategies
-
Leading and managing NPD and first-to-market innovation aligned to consumer trends
-
Working with Marketing to analyse customer insight, trends and market performance
-
Supporting internal commercial teams to deliver customer requirements
-
Developing, planning and executing new supply chains
-
Managing NPD projects internally and externally
-
Overseeing account administration including budgeting, forecasting, cost price confirmation and system updates
-
Delivering regular commercial analysis, reporting and actionable insight
The Ideal Candidate
You will bring:

Strong experience in a commercial management role
-
Proven success in customer and supplier management
-
Demonstrable leadership capability with new business development experience
-
Strong stakeholder management skills across internal and external partners
-
Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to turn insight into action
-
Solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting and commercial finance
-
Strong negotiation, influencing and communication skills
-
Ability to identify emerging food and protein market trends
-
Experience leading, managing and developing high-performing teams
-
Strong understanding of imported global beef and lamb markets, including Australia, New Zealand and South America
-
Awareness of global sustainability and environmental challenges in the protein sector
Additional requirements:

Full UK driving licence

Willingness to travel globally when required

Good knowledge of UK manufacturing, wholesale, retail and foodservice markets
