Livestock Buyer | Yetminster

ABP Yetminster is looking to recruit a Livestock Buyer to support the Livestock Manager in ensuring the livestock purchased meet all group, site and suppliers` standards. Ensure relationships with farmers., livestock agents and suppliers are maintained to a good level. The successful candidate will have proven experience and knowledge of UK Livestock farming. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate, and we will support to develop and enable you to grow with the role. Ideally, applicants will have excellent practical experience of livestock production and good working relationships with the farming community. It will be an advantage if you have livestock procurement or carcass classification experience.

-Maintain relationships with farmers, livestock agents and suppliers.
-Ensure the livestock purchased meets production requirements.
-Carry out farm visits offering assistance in drawing livestock.
-Carry out tasks in accordance with current animal welfare legislation and company
operating procedures at all times regarding safe movements, handling, and
production.
-Contribute to the recording and maintenance of slaughter information and data.
-Ensure livestock deliveries are on schedule.
-Carry out all procedures in a safe manner in accordance with the attached Health
and Safety responsibilities.
-Always comply with company policy and procedure on safe food handling and
hygiene.

-You must hold a full UK Driving License
-Excellent communication skills
-Good negotiating skills
-Excellent knowledge and understanding of the UK livestock industry.

-Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

-Able to form on-going business relationships with farmers.
