Overview
We are currently looking to recruit an Abattoir Manager to work in the Primary areas of the Lindle in Furness (Ulverston) site. This is an opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary structure, ensuring that, as one of the UK’s largest Meat Processors, we train, upskill and maintain manufacturing excellence and compliance.
Responsibilities
The Role
Supporting the Site Manager to achieve LEAN, efficient and effective slaughter operation. Striving for best practice in all areas with particular focus on maximising quality and yield standards.
Salary £32,000
5 Days – 40 Hours per week
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the Abattoir Team and Supporting them daily to achieve maximum yields.
- Ensuring good housekeeping is maintained.
- Ensuring that Quality, Health & Safety.
- Company policies are adhered to and liaising with relevant departments to ensure issues are resolved.
- Maintaining good employee relations and promoting equality of opportunity.
- Working within the Company Mission, Vision & Values.
- Continually assessing the performance (skill and speed) of butchers in the Slaughter Hall Departments.
- Identify areas for improvement for each skilled operative and develop personal development plans training against individual needs.
- Ensure yield standards are understood by butchers/slaughtermen.
- Ensure skilled operatives are working to customer specifications, and that quality standards are achieved.
- Help to demonstrate and educate all staff to meet the correct standards.
- Ensure company values are adhered to at all times when communicating with employees.
- Ensuring that all staff and visitors in the department wear appropriate PPE at all times.
Qualifications
The Person
- 5 years + Food industry experience, preferably in a Slaughter.
- Organisational skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal at all levels.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and on your own initiative.
