Butcher (Full Time or Part-time)

Hainault, Essex

£36,000 – £43,000   per annum 

Sunday night to Friday (Saturday morning) six-night.

Hours: 2000 – 0500 on a job and finish basis.

We are seeking experienced Red Meat & Poultry Butchers / Caterer’s, to join us as we continue to strengthen and expand our business.

Working in a chilled environment preparing and cutting meat and poultry products to order, cutting and packing to company specification, whilst ensuring quality, consistency and traceability procedures and standards are always followed.

Duties will include, but not limited to: 

  • Completing all tasks set by their direct reports
  • Following the company’s food safety culture through production and cleaning.
  • Preparing meat to customer specification, including boning, trimming, tying, portioning to specification to make it easier for the customer.
  • Preparing red meat primal cuts to exact customer specification.
  • Portioning cutting Steaks and chops to exact customer weight specification.
  • Maintaining personal hygiene, work rules including the clean as you go policy with clean workstations to reduce the risk of food contamination.
  • Complying with PPE requirements and adhering to safety guidelines
  • Maintaining batch coding and traceability with goods in process
  • Storing meat and goods in the correct facilities and temperature-controlled areas.
  • Fulfilment of orders.
  • Ensuring waste is minimal and you work in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Take an active role in your own personal development and continue to strive and excel your knowledge

We are looking for applicants with the following skills, attributes, and experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a butchery role.
  • Must be willing to work with both Halal and Non-Halal products.
  • Proven experience on Block test.
  • Proven experience in butchery of all meat products: Required Red Meat & Poultry.
  • Ability to portion control Steaks and various cuts essential to a high standard.
  • Good work ethic and ability to function as a part of a team.
  • All candidates need to have a good understanding of the English Language be able to read orders and specifications.
  • Must have the right work UK.
  • Industry recognised qualification is an advantage but not essential with a high level of experience.
