Role overview
In this role, you will join the abattoir team as a Trainee Slaughter Operative and learn the core principles of red meat processing. From day one, you will receive hands-on training in food safety, hygiene and animal welfare while developing practical skills within a supportive production environment. As a result, you will build strong foundations for long-term progression.
Key responsibilities

Learn the principles of abattoir operations and red meat processing

Identify cuts, joints, by-products and carcass components

Prepare, sharpen and maintain cutting tools and equipment

Apply food safety, hygiene and quality standards consistently

Follow health and safety procedures at all times

Support production targets through flexible working

Carry out additional reasonable duties within your training scope
What you’ll bring
You bring a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. No previous slaughter or knife experience is required, as full training is provided. In addition, you show commitment to teamwork, quality and company values, work well under pressure and adapt to changing production demands. You are comfortable with manual handling and working in a warm environment.
Pay, benefits and location
This is a full-time, permanent role based onsite in Portlethen, Scotland.
