Kepak Confirms Clonee Deboning Job Losses
Kepak Confirms Redundancies at Clonee Deboning Operation
Kepak Clonee redundancies have been confirmed following a consultation process. These redundancies affect roles in the deboning area of the company’s Clonee facility.
Kepak said a number of roles had been made redundant, although some staff were redeployed into alternative positions within the wider business. The company said there is no change to operations at the Clonee abattoir. It remains fully operational and will continue sourcing and processing cattle from its farmer supply base.
Deboning and foodservice operations at Clonee have been reallocated to other Kepak sites. This decision comes as the business looks to improve efficiency and better align capacity with available livestock supply.
The Irish Farmers Journal also reported that consultation processes at Kepak Clonee and ABP Waterford had concluded. ABP confirmed that proposed changes at Waterford relate only to the cutting and deboning operation. Meanwhile, the abattoir continues to receive cattle.
The changes come against a difficult backdrop for Irish beef processors. Reduced livestock supply and rising operating costs are putting pressure on factory capacity and margins.
