Experienced Livestock Buyer – Farm-to-Abattoir Expertise (Derbyshire, UK)

Highly capable and commercially aware livestock buyer with comprehensive farm-to-abattoir experience across the UK meat supply chain. This candidate has reared and finished up to 5,000 lambs and 1,250 beef cattle annually, demonstrating strong skills in livestock selection, grading, welfare, and food chain integrity.

With practical knowledge from both a mixed family farm and a major UK slaughterhouse, they bring valuable insight into animal husbandry, carcass quality, and abattoir operations. Hands-on experience includes purchasing livestock directly from farms and markets, ensuring quality and compliance with industry standards.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

• Livestock selection & grading for meat quality

• Procurement from livestock markets and farm gate

• Level 2 Livestock Transport Certificate

• Animal Welfare at Slaughter qualified

• Red Tractor / Assured Food Standards knowledge

• Abattoir operations & carcass processing understanding

Preferred Role: Livestock Buyer (Field-based or Procurement-focused)
Notice Period: 3 months
Availability: Open to UK or European roles
