We are currently recruiting for an experienced Finance Manager to work in our busy manufacturing site in Bodmin with occasional travel to Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales.

 This is a full time, fixed term contract for six months, working Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm with a salary of £40,000 per annum depending on experience.

 You will report to the Head of UK Finance, Red Meat UK.

Overview

The Kepak Red Meat UK business is an operating division within the Kepak Group. Kepak Group is one of Europe’s leading meat producers with 12 manufacturing plants in Ireland and the UK, employing over 4,000 colleagues.

Kepak Red Meat UK (St Merryn and McIntosh Donald), operates from several sites around the UK. McIntosh Donald, in Aberdeen has the capacity to slaughter 2,500 lambs and 1,800-2000 cattle per week. St. Merryn in Merthyr Tydfil has combined beef and lamb processing and packing facilities, with the capacity to slaughter 20,000 lambs and 2,000 cattle per week while our second St. Merryn site in Bodmin, Cornwall has the capacity to slaughter 1,500 cattle per week. We have dedicated retail packing capabilities within our business and offer beef and lamb products ranging from retail ready cuts for butchers’ counters to branded packaged meat, all as part of our service.

Role Purpose

The Finance Business Partner role is a senior management role encompassing a financial controlling, financial reporting and Project management responsibilities for the Bodmin site. Delivery of IT projects and building a team in line with the Kepak Core Values are Key Performance Indicators for this role.

Management Accounting Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of consistent operational reporting mainly focused on manufacturing yields, on a weekly & monthly basis to all levels of management across operations
  • Drive the standardisation process in our production system (S.I. system) and drive the use of the system in our day to day business processes
  • Manage and review the allocation of capital expenditure across sites and approval process
  • Appraise day to day monitoring of stock levels and valuation in our S.I system and improve the accuracy of our category reporting
  • Highlight and interrogate operational performance in the site
  • Lead the appraisal of operations budgets and forecasts
  • Review ad hoc reporting for the business/external parties
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve standard business tools and reporting for financial performance to provide accurate, timely and consistent information
  • Maintenance of strong working relationships with the Kepak Group Finance organisation and with other functions in the Kepak Group that work closely with the Red Meat UK business
  • Management of all cost areas
  • Mentoring of local site finance and administration teams. This could be removed
  • Ensure compliance by of local site finance and administration teams with Group policies within the operational site performance
  • Support of CIP/Lean process through contribution to site projects, agreement of baselines and signing off of “Prizes”
  • Support the new product development process

Project Management

  • Drive the development of the upgrade and improvement of the financial reporting systems

Requirements

Key Performance Indicators

  • Deliver cost optimisation through the operations value chain (yield improvement)
  • Delivery of budget margin for the division
  • Identification and delivery of margin improvement projects
  • Support the business unit Site Manager, Head of UK Finance and Operations Director
  • Delivery of projects on a timely basis including system development and capital expenditure

Skills and Experience

  • A professional accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA, AAT level 4) with 2 years PQE
  • Financial reporting experience in the manufacturing industry
  • Experience in preparation of all areas of Financial Statements and standard control procedures
  • Highly motivated with excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently to tight deadlines
  • The ability to adapt to the position quickly and to work as part of a team
  • Change management skills
  • Strong IT competency (MS Office Suite) and ERP systems knowledge preferred
  • Experience gained within a FMCG environment
  • Broad business appreciation, including Production, Supply Chain and Category implications
