Role: Business Development Manager
Location: Homebased (regional travel required)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: Negotiable, dependent on experience

About the Role

This is a key commercial role supporting ambitious growth plans. As Business Development Manager, you will lead the development of new business while maximising the profitability of existing key accounts, working to clear sales and margin targets.

You will take a solution-led approach, understanding each customer’s complete food offering and aligning commercial propositions to their needs, objectives and operational realities.

The role requires a hands-on, commercially astute individual who can influence decision-makers, build long-term partnerships and deliver sustainable profit.


Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Driving profitable growth across new and existing key accounts

  • Winning significant new business and developing large contracts

  • Developing and implementing commercial agreements and terms

  • Managing key customer relationships to a high professional standard

  • Understanding customer operations and providing full foodservice solutions

  • Balancing customer needs, food trends and margin performance

  • Delivering compelling sales propositions aligned to customer objectives

  • Contributing to wider business strategy and growth initiatives

  • Monitoring market conditions, competitor activity and customer behaviour

  • Working collaboratively with internal teams to deliver best-in-class service


Skills, Experience & Attributes

You will ideally bring:

  • Relevant sales or business qualification to A-level standard or equivalent

  • Proven success in developing profitable key accounts

  • Demonstrable record of winning major new business

  • Strong commercial acumen with analytical thinking

  • Excellent negotiation, selling and presentation skills

  • Deep understanding of the food industry and foodservice marketplace

  • Ability to balance retention, growth and new business decisions

  • Customer-driven mindset with a collaborative, hands-on approach

  • Confidence influencing senior stakeholders internally and externally

  • Ability to identify and optimise trading opportunities


Travel Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence required

  • Ability to travel across the region to service the customer base
