Shift: Monday to Friday, 16:00 – 01:00

This is a hands-on senior engineering role supporting production reliability, asset improvement, and compliance within a modern food manufacturing environment.

With a family tradition in butchery spanning more than 30 years, C&K Meats is an award-winning British pork producer based in the Suffolk countryside.
Now part of the wider CPC Foods Group and international Premium Food Group, the business operates recently expanded, state-of-the-art facilities cutting, preparing, packing and distributing fresh pork products across the UK and globally.
The site holds multiple industry accreditations including Red Tractor, RSPCA Assured, and BRCGS Grade A.
The Role
As Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the Head of Engineering and wider engineering team. This is a practical, hands-on position with shared responsibility for the maintenance, installation, modification, and improvement of production equipment and site assets.
You will work proactively to identify engineering issues before they escalate, ensuring smooth production performance while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, hygiene, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:

Provide technical support to the Head of Engineering and engineering teams

Carry out repairs, modifications, and continuous improvements to production assets

Support installation, maintenance, and optimisation of production lines

Manage contractors and ensure safe systems of work
-
Proactively identify faults and risks, taking corrective action before downtime occurs

Maintain compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and environmental standards
-
Support asset performance through planned and reactive maintenance
-
Ensure engineering activities align with food safety and BRCGS requirements
Skills & Experience Required
To be successful, you will bring:

NVQ Level 4 or higher in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering

Proven experience in a multi-discipline engineering role
-
Strong understanding of BRC standards and customer Codes of Practice

Knowledge of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
-
Experience with Planned Preventative Maintenance systems (e.g. Shire)
-
Working knowledge of CMMS systems
-
CIEH Level 3 Food Safety for Manufacturing
-
HACCP, TACCP and GMP qualifications
-
Strong understanding of hygiene and health & safety requirements
-
IOSHH qualification (preferred)

Competence with PLC systems and electrical fault-finding

18th Edition qualification (ideal)

Sound fault-finding skills across pneumatics and control systems

Experience working with heavy mechanical machinery

Strong communication skills and ability to work autonomously

Consistent and fair approach to policy and procedure enforcement
