Working as part of our existing Finance team, we are seeking to appoint a Finance Assistant based at our Treburley site.
The successful applicant will work as part of the Devon/Cornwall finance function and contribute to the support of the Management Team in all areas of Operations & Finance, with the aim of maximizing return and achieving the overall Group objectives/ targets, providing financial control, team development, guidance, and information to ensure correct controls, procedures & structures are in place to support and make a positive contribution to the Company’s future growth. Standard hours would be 8.30 – 17.00 shift Monday to Friday.
Annual Salary of £26,000.
Responsibilities
- To support with weekly, monthly and quarterly accounting information prepared in line with group accounting policies/ timelines and proper accounting records are maintained in compliance with regulations.
- Take ownership of day to day management of purchase ledger activities from raising PO’s, invoice queries and weekly/monthly reporting requirements.
- To contribute to the management of accounts receivable eg. Credits/sundry invoicing etc.
- To ensure the financial controls and subsequent reconciliations are correctly carried out and monitored.
- To provide quality financial management information that is timely, accurate and relevant. To ensure adequate role and cross-training is carried out to protect the delivery of service
- To ensure weekly stock reconciliations are completed for external cold stores and any discrepancies resolved in a timely manner.
- To contribute to the preparation of weekly accounts/forecasts and ad-hoc reporting/analysis as required.
- Continually contribute to the improvement of Reporting systems & Information
- Work closely with commercial team to ensure customer credit limits are being adhered to.
- To contribute to the provision of relevant information and assistance to internal and external auditors.
- Understanding and contribution to preparation of production yield reports and investigation of any unusual transactions.
- Other adhoc financial analysis as required.
Qualifications
- Be studying towards AAT/equivalent financial qualification desired but not essential (Further study support available)
- Have previous experience of working within a small finance team
- Be able to demonstrate an understanding of key cost drivers within a business
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Have a proactive and positive approach to work
- Be willing to learn and adaptable in covering other finance function tasks outside of normal role
