The Role

The Head of Technical will oversee the Technical and Hygiene teams at our flagship manufacturing site, which produces a wide variety of products for a diverse range of suppliers in a complex, multi-faceted production environment.

They are the key link between Operations, Technical leadership, and the wider technical team, you will ensure the delivery of agreed food safety objectives and represent Technical as a value-adding function.

Key Accountabilities

  • Advise the cluster leadership team on food safety, quality, and technical matters.
  • Set and deliver Technical goals, collaborating across teams and sites.
  • Engage proactively with customers, supporting audits and fostering strong relationships.
  • Align processes across sites and promote best practices within the business.
  • Manage Technical activities with financial rigor to ensure cost-effectiveness.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Level 4 Food Hygiene, and Advanced HACCP certification.
  • 5+ years of Technical leadership in FMCG, with experience in M&S audit standards.
  • Expertise in food manufacturing, ideally within chilled and frozen environments, coated products, and/ or fish processing.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety, labelling laws, and exporting regulations.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to lead audits, manage projects, and achieve results across multiple sites.
