Our advanced manufacturing site in Telford, is one of our main processing facilities, processing up to 1.5 million birds per week. There are over 1,200 talented people employed at our Telford site, helping us to deliver high quality products to our customers and making the business a trusted leader in fresh foods.
We’ve recently invested £2.3 million in technology and equipment, making it one of the most advanced food manufacturing facilities in the UK.
About the Role:

As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to investing in our people across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Section Manager to join our Logistics Team, based at our Telford site.
You’ll be working in a fast-paced, dynamic FMCG factory environment which is noisy and refrigerated in some areas, manufacturing short shelf life products where hygiene standards are critical. As a Section Manager you’ll be working a weekly rotational shift pattern of Tuesday to Saturday 10:00-19:00 and Sunday to Thursday 22:00-07:00
What will you be doing as a Section Manager at Avara?
As a Section Manager you will be responsible for the day to day running of despatch departments ensuring colleagues are operating effectively, efficiently and safely at all times.
What will your key responsibilities as a Section include?
- Being responsible for the management and development of Team Leaders and colleagues within despatch.
- Ensuring all food safety, health & safety and quality standards are met during the despatch process.
- Monitoring and delivering on inbound and outbound loading schedules for raw materials and finished products.
- Ensuring weekly scanned stock takes and regular stock rotation are performed.
- Working closely with the internal trainer ensuring MHE and Driver training, development and assessments are identified and completed.
- Management of the INVAR warehouse management system.
- Supporting other Logistics managers within transport and goods yard teams.
- Ensuring consistency in the application of the company’s policies and procedures.
- Inducting daily pre-shift briefings and weekly safety walks.
- An experienced People Manager or Team Leader who has managed teams in a similar fast paced FMCG environment.
- Good IT skills with the ability to learn new systems. Invar/Genesis WMS being highly advantageous.
- Ability to deal effectively with challenging situations.
- Proven people management skills in a diverse and demanding environment with the ability to lead and motivate the team.
- Excellent communicator at all levels with internal and external stakeholders.
- A basic knowledge of road haulage legislation, drivers hours etc would be beneficial but not required as training will be provided.
- Experience of coaching and developing and mentoring a team to ensure they are reaching their capabilities.
