Browns Food Group are one of the UK’s largest cooked and sliced meat producers, supplying some of the country’s largest supermarkets, food service companies and Independents nationwide. We supply an extensive range in quality cooked meats, pre-sliced and whole joints of cooked meat, convenience foods and a variety of delicatessen items.

As a result of our continued growth and exciting new business initiatives, we have a vacancy for a management account within our Brown Brothers division. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller , the purpose of this role is to provide the business, including Group finance and the Brown Brothers management team, with relevant financial and management information to assist in the monitoring of business performance with a key focus on business improvement initiatives. This will be a key hands-on financial role with the successful candidate being a key member of the local management team. This role will be ideally suited for a newly qualified management accountant or someone at the latter stages of qualification depending on experience.

Key responsibilities:

  • Analysing and appraising actual monthly business performance against budget and prior periods and preparing monthly management accounts for the site director and the Group Financial Controller. Following up on specific issues raised by the analysis working with the local management team.
  • Provide month end and year-end financial figures for a timely month end and year end close. To provide year end audit files and accounts including liaison with external auditors
  • Implement and monitor KPI’s to help the business maintain control of cost and production efficiencies.
  • Report and monitor balance sheet and working capital position and ensure any action needed is taken .Full balance sheet reconciliations prepared and maintained.
  • Liaise with the other departments for all relevant matters pertaining to achieving targets.
  • Provide input for the operational strategy working closely with the senior management teams.

The Successful Applicant:

  • Will be a newly Qualified or late-stage part qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, CPA)
  • Confident individual with hands on financial experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
