Meat Buyer | Boston

As an experienced meat buyer, you will be responsible for selecting and procuring the best-quality meats for our butchery wholesale business. This role requires a keen understanding of the meat industry, a strong commitment to product quality, and the ability to negotiate favourable prices while maintaining a focus on ethical and sustainable sourcing

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

• Identify and build relationships with reputable suppliers and farmers to ensure a consistent and diverse supply of high-quality meats
• Evaluate and select meats based on strict quality standards, including appearance, flavour, and overall freshness
• Stay informed about market trends, new products, and industry developments to make informed purchasing decisions
• Conduct thorough research on the origin of meats to ensure compliance with ethical, sustainable, and humane farming practices
• Collaborate with suppliers to maintain transparency and traceability of products, emphasising the importance of responsible sourcing to our customers
• Negotiate pricing agreements with suppliers to achieve competitive costs while maintaining the highest quality standards
• Monitor market trends and pricing fluctuations to anticipate changes and make strategic purchasing decisions
• Work closely with the inventory management team to optimize stock levels and minimize waste
• Implement effective systems to track product shelf life, ensuring that all meats meet freshness standards
• Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to understand customer preferences and market demands, adjusting purchasing strategies accordingly
