ABP UK is recruiting a National Sales Manager to lead and develop a high-performing national sales team. This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role responsible for delivering growth, strengthening customer relationships, and executing the national sales strategy across the UK agriculture and beef sector.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a national team of Business Development Managers

  • Set clear objectives, KPIs, and activity standards aligned to business goals

  • Conduct regular one-to-ones, team meetings, and biannual performance reviews

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high service standards

Sales Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and deliver the national sales plan in line with company objectives

  • Identify new business opportunities and support regional growth

  • Oversee the full sales cycle through the BDM team, ensuring strong conversion

  • Manage key national accounts and support high-value negotiations

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regional performance

  • Provide feedback to marketing on opportunities and areas for improvement

Financial & Performance Management

  • Exceed national sales targets and growth objectives

  • Forecast sales performance and opportunities by product type

  • Report on pipeline, performance, and insights to the National Operations Manager

  • Analyse sales data to identify improvement areas

  • Oversee debtor management through the BDM team

  • Review Oxbury accounts and manage customer credit limits

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and partners

  • Work cross-functionally with rearing, procurement, and finance teams

  • Represent the business at industry events, trade shows, and networking activities


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Achievement of national sales targets and TB infrastructure growth

  • Growth and retention of existing customer accounts

  • BDM team performance, CRM usage, and debt management

  • Reduction of animals outside the programme to 1% or lower

  • Attendance at industry events and shows

  • Fewer than 5% of customers with debt over 90 days


The Ideal Candidate

Essential:

  • Proven experience leading a field sales or business development team

  • Track record delivering national sales targets

  • Strong understanding of UK agriculture and the beef industry

  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and people management skills

  • Strong commercial and analytical capability

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills

  • Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office

  • Willingness to travel nationally

Desirable:

  • Experience within an integrated supply chain

  • Knowledge of farm management software

  • Understanding of finance for farmers
