Role purpose
As Packaging Technologist, you will manage packaging development and change projects across new product development and existing ranges. Working closely with Development Chefs, NPD, Process Technologists, Commercial and Operations teams, you will ensure packaging is fit for purpose, retailer-compliant, cost-effective and delivered right first time.
You will also support day-to-day packaging issues across site operations, taking a hands-on, collaborative approach.
Key responsibilities

Support NPD briefs by selecting appropriate packaging in line with retailer requirements

Generate packaging costings as part of product briefs

Present packaging concepts and ideas to customers when required

Work cross-functionally to ensure accurate and on-time product launches

Attend packaging trials and complete travel testing where necessary

Contribute to factory packaging specifications

Complete packaging sample requests, including merchandising builds

Generate cutter guides to support artwork development

Manage artwork processes for own-label and branded products using Foods Connected and retailer platforms

Attend print runs where required

Provide accurate packaging information for retailer specification systems, including BRC documentation

Complete data input for retailer packaging waste reporting

Support group procurement on trials linked to cost-saving initiatives
What we’re looking for

Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Packaging Technologist within the food industry

Knowledge of fish manufacturing and packing is desirable
-
Proven ability to work cross-functionally to deliver business objectives

Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously

Strong understanding of branded vs own-label packaging requirements and sign-off processes

Ability to adapt to different retailer systems and approval routes
-
Strong organisational skills with the ability to work to deadlines

Flexibility to work across multiple sites and outside standard hours when required

Full UK driving licence
