This is a Fixed Term Contract for 6 Months – Afternoon Shift

Job Purpose:

Oversee the Production teams to ensuring the smooth running of all aspects of daily tasks within the production department. To ensure the productivity and efficiency of the team in delivering production requirements.

Production:

  • Ensure that products are manufactured to the customers’ specifications in the correct quantities and within the given deadlines.
  • Ensure that the necessary quality, safety & legality systems are in operation to satisfy the Company’s Due Diligence and food safety requirements.
  • Maintain clear communication – upwards to the Site Operation Manger, and downwards to all levels of personnel.
  • Check that the company targets are being achieved, and that the relevant systems are in place to achieve this.
  • Ensure that the Hygiene requirements of the factory are in place and always maintained.
  • Ensure all Hygiene management system are up to date; also cleaning schedule and cleaning instruction cards are regular reviewed.
  • Ensure all Deep / Allergen cleaning are planned as per schedule.
  • Ensure the Hygiene team are managed accordantly.
  • Chemical stocks are carried out and orders are placed accordantly also titrations tests on chemical are carried out as per schedule.
  • Ensure all COSHH Data sheet are accessible and visual on the chemical storage.
  • Ensure all Hygiene PPE stocks are controlled and replace when required based on stock level.
  • Ensure all daily and long-term production-planning requirements are met without compromising on food safety, quality and legality.
  • Remain conversant and up to date with the standards of all products manufactured, both of final product and the systems necessary to achieve this.
  • Deal with misconduct offences of production personnel in consultation with the Site Operation Manger and HR Administrator and in line with relevant company policies.
  • Ensure that all personnel at the factory floor levels are trained accordingly
  • Give appraisals in line with the company policy.
  • Ensure you are aware of “Company confidential” information and always maintain confidentiality.
  • Recruitment of factory personnel in consultation with the Site Operation Manger.
  • Respect and honour the sentiment of the Cranswick ethical policies and codes of conduct, always interacting with your colleagues.
  • Work in an Environmental and Energy efficient manner and to respect and honour the sentiment of the Cranswick Environmental and Energy policies and Second Nature principles.
  • Where there are any Environmental Permit conditions in place, to ensure that where you have direct influence on these areas, then these are adhered to within the required limits.
  • Work in partnership with the Senior Management team on site to be part of the Culture of the site which drives Food Safety, H&S, Ethical, Environmental and Energy behaviours.
  • Assist Technical and Development with carrying out factory trials for new product development.
  • Order standard raw materials and minor production equipment in consultation with the Site Operation Manger.

Food Safety and Hygiene:

  • Always comply with the company food safety and hygiene policies and procedures.
  • Work with the teams to ensure a high level of food safety and hygiene is always maintained.
  • Oversee the correct storage of goods and raw materials within the factory and/or warehouse.

Health and Safety:

  • Ensure that you understand and adhere to your personal responsibilities with regard the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 or Health and Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) Order SI 1978/1039:
  • Take reasonable care for your own and other’s health and safety while at work and to Co-operate with your employer on health and safety matters.
  • Anything provided in the interests of health, safety or welfare must not be intentionally or recklessly interfered with or misused.
  • Ensure that the training needs of your department are understood, and sufficient resources are provided and Responsible for direct reports H&S performance during appraisals. Coaching and mentoring your team through periods of change, especially the introduction of new equipment, new processes or changes in layout.
  • Ensuring effective engagement & participation with safety tours, committee meetings and daily operational review meetings.
  • Ensure effective communication to all direct reports on KPI’s; accidents, hazard & near misses or emerging issues from other sites.
  • Ensure site compliance to ISO45001 [H&S], ISO14001 [Environmental] & ISO5001 [Energy] management systems.
  • Responsible for applying budgetary control for H&S, Environmental and Energy.
  • Responsible for compliance to accident and claims management procedures.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance to company policies, procedures, site rules and information and instruction given by your employer.
  • To respect and honour the sentiment of the Cranswick ethical policies and codes of conduct, when always interacting with your colleagues.
  • To work in an Environmental and Energy efficient manner and to respect and honour the sentiment of the Cranswick Environmental and Energy policies and Second Nature principles.

Requirements, Experience and Person Specification:

  • Group and site induction.
  • Level 3 in H&S. Either IOSH Managing Safely or Cranswick equivalent.
  • All relevant risk assessments and safe working procedures are reviewed and to current methods.
  • Hazards and near miss reporting training.
  • Accident investigation training.
  • COSHH Training level 3

  • Understanding and competence in trained factory tasks must be demonstrated.
  • The ability to follow instruction and carry out new tasks must be demonstrated.
  • The ability to effectively lead the team and provide training where required must be demonstrated
  • Job specific training is given in all areas where needed and may be within the company or provided by an external source.
