Kepak McIntosh Donald are recruiting a Quality Assurance Operative to join their Technical Team at their Scottish processing site. This opportunity is advertised via the Meatex Jobs Board.

Kepak McIntosh Donald are a globally recognised brand and the largest red meat producer in Scotland, supplying high-quality beef and lamb raised on open pastures, sourced from local farmers and selected by expert master butchers.

This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in food safety, quality assurance and technical operations within FMCG manufacturing.

Working hours

  • Monday to Friday

  • 40 hours per week

  • 6:00am start

Role purpose

The Quality Assurance Operative provides essential support to the production area by ensuring all customer, legislative and industry checks are completed on time and recorded accurately.

You will play a key role in monitoring, controlling and verifying food safety and quality activities in line with the site’s HACCP and food safety management systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor and verify products against customer and legislative specifications

  • Complete daily quality checks including temperature, contamination, labelling, weight and packaging

  • Verify all finished product prior to despatch meets required standards

  • Ensure product labels are accurate, compliant and of high print quality

  • Complete monitoring and verification activities in line with the HACCP plan

  • Take environmental swabs and product samples for microbiological testing

  • Upload samples to laboratory systems and prepare for despatch

  • Monitor product pH levels and track trends against specifications

  • Liaise with production teams to manage foreign body risks

  • Carry out GMP audits and feedback findings to production supervisors

  • Take DNA samples and prepare for external laboratory testing

  • Perform E. coli testing within the internal laboratory

  • Support preparation for internal and external audits

  • Maintain accurate, legible and up-to-date documentation

  • Carry out any other reasonable duties within the scope of the role

What we’re looking for

  • No previous QA experience required — full training provided

  • Willingness to learn, develop and progress within a technical environment

  • Strong understanding (or willingness to learn) food safety and hygiene principles
