The Role

As a Manufacturing Key Operative (Semi Skilled Butcher), you will slice and trim meat to required specifications, ensuring products are produced safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

You will work across trimming meat from the bone, preparing primal cuts, and slicing steaks, chops, and joints from three species. Through training and hands-on experience, you will develop your skills and work towards becoming an expert within your area.

In addition, you will support colleagues, work flexibly across production areas, and follow all company policies relating to health and safety, hygiene, security, and cleaning.


Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Slice and trim meat to required specifications

  • Trim meat from the bone and prepare primal cuts

  • Slice steaks, chops, and joints accurately and consistently

  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and health and safety standards

  • Share knowledge and support team members

  • Work flexibly across production areas when required

  • Maintain concentration and quality during repetitive tasks

As a result, you will help deliver high-quality, food-safe products to customers.


The Ideal Candidate

This role is suitable for someone looking to develop skills in a manufacturing butchery environment.

You will ideally:

  • Work well as part of a team and follow instructions accurately

  • Have some knife skills, although previous butchery experience is not essential

  • Be comfortable wearing PPE such as chainmail gloves

  • Be able to work in a chilled production environment

  • Have a flexible, positive attitude and good attention to detail

  • Maintain focus when tasks are repetitive

Full training will be provided.


Working Environment

Please note, this is a raw meat manufacturing environment. You will work with raw meat and carcasses in chilled conditions between 2°C and 9°C.

Full personal protective equipment is provided and must be worn at all times.
