Kepak Group is recruiting a Skilled Slaughterman to join its Slaughter Hall team at the Bodmin site in Cornwall. This permanent, on-site role is advertised via the Meatex Jobs Board.

This role suits an experienced slaughterman looking for a stable, weekday-only position with strong pay, clear structure and long-term progression.

Working pattern:
Monday to Friday
Start time: 06:30
Finish: Production complete
45 hours per week
Overtime paid at time and a quarter after 45 hours
2 × 30-minute breaks per day
No weekend working
Role purpose
As a Skilled Slaughterman, you will carry out specialist slaughter and preparation activities within the slaughter hall, ensuring animals are processed safely, humanely and in full compliance with animal welfare, food safety and quality standards.
You will play a critical role in maintaining Kepak’s high standards of meat quality while supporting efficient production output.
Key responsibilities

Carry out slaughter hall operations using specialist knife skills and equipment

Prepare and process meat in line with production specifications

Ensure animal welfare standards are upheld at all times

Perform precision cutting and preparation tasks

Maintain a clean, safe and compliant working environment

Meet daily production targets as part of a team

Carry out quality checks to ensure product standards are met

Store and handle meat products correctly to prevent waste

Continuously develop knife skills and processing techniques

Work safely at height when required (training provided)
What we’re looking for

Previous experience in a slaughter role within food manufacturing (essential)

Strong knife skills and confidence working in a slaughter environment

Current Slaughter Licence (preferred)

Food Hygiene certification

Good understanding of animal welfare requirements

Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure

Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy items

Reliable, consistent work ethic

Good numeracy skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team
