This role offers an opportunity to build a career in buying and trading within one of the UK’s most unique food retailers. As a result, you will support commercial decision-making while working closely with trading, supply chain, finance, and technical teams.

The Role

As a Trading Assistant, you will support the Trading team in a busy, fast-paced Head Office environment. You will help manage day-to-day trading activity while contributing to longer-term commercial goals within the Home category.

In addition, you will work within embedded business teams, collaborating closely with Buyers, supply chain, finance, and technical colleagues. At the same time, you will help ensure strong traceability and ethical sourcing, particularly across meat and fresh food supply chains.

Because this is a developmental role, it is well suited to someone looking to progress into Buying.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Support trading activity across the Home category

• Manage multiple priorities to short timescales

• Provide excellent internal and external customer service

• Analyse complex data to support commercial decisions

• Communicate clearly with stakeholders face to face, by phone, and by email

• Support traceability and ethical sourcing requirements

• Work collaboratively within embedded business teams

As a result, your contribution will directly support category performance and customer satisfaction.

You will be motivated, organised, and commercially minded, with a strong desire to build a career in buying.

• A strong interest in Trading and Buying

• Good commercial and financial understanding with strong numerical skills
