The Role
As a Trainee / Apprentice Butcher, you will work closely with experienced butchers to learn all aspects of professional butchery. This is a hands-on training role covering the full range of meats, poultry and game, combined with a structured SVQ apprenticeship programme.
You will develop practical knife skills, equipment knowledge, and food safety awareness while building a solid foundation for a long-term career in the trade.
What You Will Learn
During your apprenticeship, you will be trained in:

Knife skills including trimming, deboning and portioning

Preparing a full range of meats, poultry and game

Safe use of butchery machinery such as labellers, scales and packing equipment

Knife sharpening and equipment maintenance
-
Cleaning and sanitising work areas and equipment

Completing food safety and traceability paperwork
-
Working to high food hygiene and quality standards
Working Hours

Monday to Friday: 9:00am – 5:00pm

1 in 3 Saturday mornings

Start and finish times can be adjusted where required

No previous butchery experience is required, as full training will be provided.
