As killing returned to normal in the week following the Jubilee bank holiday weekend, cattle prices stood their ground. In the week ending 11 June, the GB all-prime average gained 0.7p to 440.7p/kg.

Overall, steer prices rose by 1.4p to 441.6p/kg, while those meeting the R4L specification put on nearly 4p to average 450.6p/kg. However, heifer prices overall dipped by 0.3p to average 441.1p/kg.

Young bulls gained 1.7p/kg overall to average 435.5p/kg, while the average price of cow carcases was steady at 360.6p/kg.

Estimated throughput in GB abattoirs was of course higher week-on-week, with 30,900 prime animals and 8,700 cows processed.
