In a few weeks’ time, the UK will host a two-week reapproval inspection audit from Mexico for British pork. To help exporters prepare, AHDB and the UK Export Certification Partnership (UKECP) held a workshop on Tuesday 19 March 2024.

Highlights from the workshop included a presentation from the Food Standards Agency (FSA), discussions on food safety audit preparations, and learnings from the previous inward mission from Mexico. The team at Cranswick plc also shared their insights, experiences and valuable tips from the previous audit.

The workshop received positive feedback from participants.

Barry McKillion, Trading Manager at Sofina Foods, said:

“I thought it [the workshop] was very helpful. These events are always a great networking opportunity, and I was able to speak with some of the other attendees on this and other export topics that we wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to do. A great session all round; your help and assistance are greatly appreciated”.

Anthony Pargeter, Technical Manager at Pilgrim’s Pride Ltd., said:

“The Mexico workshop was very helpful, and it was good to hear from the various sectors that contribute to pork exports. Valuable information was shared from food business operators, cold stores, Defra, the FSA and especially from AHDB. The workshop information has been shared with the team and should put us in a good place for the actual audit”.
