John Sheppard Butchers Ltd a family-owned, successful, and expanding central Bristol-based wholesale butcher is looking for experienced multi-species butchers (and trainee butchers) to join our team.

Job Role:
In this role, you will become an integral part of our hardworking butchery team preparing meat products to customer specifications across a wide range of catering industry sectors. (Schools, Universities, Hotels, Restaurants, Sports stadia, Events, and Foodservice) skills needed are Portion control, breaking down carcasses (all species), dicing, high-level trim product preparation, and portion control across all species.
All applicants for this role must meet the below requirements.
- Applicant must be motivated, punctual and honest with a good level of written and spoken English.
- High-level meat knowledge of all species and cuts.
- Butchery skills required from the applicant, Splitting Carcasses, Preparing Primals, Steak Cutting and Portion Control with excellent product presentation.
- Must be able to work as a part of a hardworking flexible team, follow instruction and use own initiative to achieve a common goal.
- Experience of working to deadlines in a fast-paced working environment.
- Knowledge of food health and safety, batch coding, traceability and use by dates (preferably intermediate/high-level food hygiene certifications)
- Able to work on a flexible shift pattern.
- All equipment and protective clothing will be provided.

Pay level can be negotiated on experience and skill level. (A skill test will be required at the interview stage.)
Approx. 40 Hrs per week.
Hours covered are 7/8 am Start – 5/6 pm Finish approx.
Monday to Friday working week.
Additional hours on weekends are available when required (Saturday AM Shift).
