Group Butchery Manager

As a result of continued business expansion, Browns Food Group have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Butchery Manager. Browns Food Group operates from 7 state of the art facilities supplying the wholesale and retail sectors. The Group Butchery Manager will take full responsibility for multiple sites butchery production and associated operations as we continue our expansion into the Scottish fresh pork market.

This multi site role will require travel between our sites in Prestwick, Kirkconnel, Irvine and North Berwick.

Key Responsibilities

· Further develop our Butchery Academy as an industry leader. Develop and nurture talent in the craft of butchery ad de-boning with the aim of creating a continuous pool of talented and enthusiastic butchers committed to delivering excellence for our customers

· Ensure that all products are processed and manufactured according to specification as per the production plan

· Ensure complete delivery of the sites butchery production plans to our internal and external customers

· Ensure that all documentation – production, technical, H&S, HR is completed accurately and timely

· Drive continuous improvement through the butchery of each site, driving forward targets and performance levels by leading and motivating the teams

· Manage all line / department resources (labour, materials and machinery) in the most cost effective way. Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency to reduce costs and improve quality

· Manage the onsite butchery teams, providing guidance and training as required to ensure that they are competent and efficient in their job roles

· Manage raw materials and finished product to ensure that the sites production needs are met while minimising waste

· Build excellent strong working relationships with other Browns Food Group sites and key personnel including; sales, packaging, supply chain, site heads.

Person Specification

· Previous food production management experience

· Qualified / skilled butcher with knowledge of meat processing and butchery practices

· Strong leadership and people management skills

· Excellent communication, analytical and problem solving skills
