We are looking for 2 talented people to join our operations management team, to support the day-to-day running of our factory in Dunning, Perthshire.

These roles will work closely with our Operations Directors and other key Directors to ensure that we continue to meet our production targets and our customers’ high expectations.

We will produce in the region of 2.5 million cases of product this year at our factory in Dunning and we are proud to now be the 3rd biggest food and drink brand in Scotland.

About the job:

This is a front-line and hands-on management role. There will be pressure at times so resilience, common sense and stamina are a must. On a day-to-day basis, the role responsibilities and activities will include;

– Planning, organising and coordinating the production process to ensure targets and orders are met.
– Working closely with our internal teams to understand order processing and order fulfilment issues.
– Participating in production activities and gaining insight and understanding into the quality control and food safety standards.
– Monitoring production performance to ensure optimum efficiency across the departments.
– Working alongside department supervisors to ensure the values and standards are upheld.
– Supporting cross-functional departments including Technical and Quality Control to ensure food safety standards are upheld along with the necessary quality control procedures.
– Taking an active role in projects relating to process improvement and production optimization with the overarching view of improving the overall operation.
– Participating in cross-functional projects like new product development, packaging initiatives and factory audits.
– Identifying opportunities for change and implementing the technology, equipment and methodology required to enhance the process.

About you:

We are open to speaking to already experienced and successful Operations or Production Managers who are looking for growth and a new challenge OR talented graduates who are keen to explore Production / Operations Management as a career.

We know that you might not have everything that we’d like but here’s some of our key ingredients:

– Degree calibre or qualified graduate
– A background in the food environment will be advantage.
– Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive and analytical mindset.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
– Highly organised and able to manage multiple tasks and prioritise accordingly.
– Commercially astute
– Resilient with a good work ethic
– Understands and can demonstrate effective operational leadership
– Leads by example and not phased by fast-paced change
– Familiar with large production plant and equipment but if not, then you must be keen to learn.
– Proficient user of Microsoft Office.

We understand that starting a new role in a new environment isn’t easy. You will need to be confident enough to make decisions and to take responsibility for seeing them through. Without a doubt, it will be the ability, character and approach of the person that are most important.

And finally:

We operate a core dayshift and reduced back/nightshifts over 6 days p/w. During peak season (Nov- Jan) we operate 7 days p/w.

Our aim is that both Operations Managers will work in partnership to provide consistent operational management support during our dayshift, and to ensure an efficient start-up of the back/night shift. In terms of working time we anticipate that each Manager will work slightly staggered working times (on rotation) so as to provide as wide a cover as practical.

It will be an advantage if you live within 30 minutes of the area or if you are prepared to relocate as the demands of the job can be time-consuming, especially during our peak season.
Your initial salary will depend on your experience and ability so far. For the right people, there is real opportunity for financial and professional growth.
