Our advanced manufacturing site in Wednesbury, West Midlands, is our newest advanced manufacturing site, and we’ve invested around £4.7 million into state-of-the-art facilities.

Our Wednesbury site is a flagship Added Value centre for Avara, which employ over 150 talented individuals at the site, who help to supply some of the UK’s largest supermarkets and popular restaurants!

About the Role:

Are you an experienced Section Manager with a proven track record in people management? Do you have experience working within a FMCG environment? Do you thrive working in a fast-paced manufacturing operation?

As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to Operations across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Section Manager to join our Site Operations Team, based at our Wednesbury site.

The role is site based, so you’ll be working in a fast-paced, dynamic FMCG factory environment which is noisy and refrigerated in some areas, manufacturing short shelf life products where hygiene standards are critical.

 As a Section Manager you’ll be working 4O4O Days.

What will you be doing as a Section Manager at Avara?

As a Section Manager you’ll be accountable to the Production Manager for the operational output within your designated section to effectively manage all operations and ensure KPIs, targets and business objectives are met. You will meet all requirements in terms of legislation and company policy, ensuring the safety of employees, equipment, infrastructure, and products.

This is a predominantly site-based role, with majority of the time spent within the production area.

What will your key responsibilities as a Section Manager include?

  • To effectively manage all operations within the specified sections to ensure KPi’s targets and business objectives are met.
  • To liaise with relevant internal departments to ensure the product is produced, loaded and dispatched in accordance with the ‘Production Plan’.
  • To ensure operations are conducted in compliance with customer specifications, whilst meeting cost, quality, productivity and H&S Targets.
  • To ensure the adherence to Food Standards legislation throughout the production process.
  • Implementation of new strategies with the support of senior management
  • Supervise quality of product and ensure non-conformances are dealt with in accordance with company policy in a timely and efficient timescale.
  • Implement and review continuous improvement initiatives to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure that accurate and detailed records are logged shared with site management team in accordance with site ‘hand-over’ procedure.What you’ll need to be successful:
  • An experienced Section Manager or Team Leader who has managed teams in a similar production or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of continuous improvement in a production environment of implementing change through effective management.
  • Ability to deal effectively with challenging situations.
  • Proven people management skills in a diverse and demanding environment with the ability to lead and motivate the team.
  • Excellent communicator at all levels with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management skills, analytical skills.
  • Experience of coaching and developing and mentoring a team to ensure they are reaching their capabilities.
