We are seeking to recruit a Technical Manager to support our technical functions for our site in Andover.
Job Title: Technical Manager
Your purpose of the role is to be an ambassador for Quality and Food Safety, demonstrating behaviours and always reinforcing Pilgrim’s Europe commitment to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for managing the Technical Team, ensuring all requisite product safety and quality specifications and monitoring tools are in place.
- You will participate in the development and maintenance of the Food Safety and Quality culture within the site.
- Liaise with internal departments and external customers to implement internal and external specifications with supporting internal documentation.
- Implementation and completion of internal and external key technical performance indicator reports.
- To co-ordinate and use internal audits as a tool to assess, modify and make recommendations to maintain and improve the system and standards as necessary.
- To co-ordinate both internal and external micro, chemical and sensory testing (including cost control) and interpretation adjusting and making recommendations as required.
- To be an integral part of the NPD process ensuring new product launches are as effective and efficient as possible.
- To liaise with the wider Pilgrim’s group drawing down resource and expertise for the benefit of the site and all operations.
What You’ll Need:
- previous technical experience of FMCG food related manufacturing operations and proven management capability in a Technical, QA or Process Development function.
- working with technical representatives of major retailers and relevant factory audit experience.
- knowledge of processing requirements of fresh meat products and the Microbiology effecting meat and meat products.
- knowledge and experience of continuous improvement tools and techniques and proven experience in cost control, health and safety and management of quality systems.
Qualifications:
- a track record in microbiological and hygiene-based management programmes and knowledge of Ethical trading requirements and control systems.
- a BSc food related subject and / or science degree with relevant food experience
- Food Safety Level 4, Lead Auditors, Allergens, Pest Awareness, Root Cause Analysis, HACCP Level 4 and TACCP.
