AK Stoddart produces the highest quality beef products both chilled and frozen for retail, foodservices and business to business companies. You will be the first point of contact for manufacturing for any quality related issues; it is therefore imperative that the individual establishes a collaborative working relationship between the functions, including effective communication and listening skills. The ability to influence through contribution, style and approach are key attributes.

The vacancy for a Quality Assurance Technician has become available at our site in Ayr to join the technical department, reporting to the Technical Team Leader.

Your duties will include: –

· Conduct hourly checks throughout Production which includes but is not limited to:

Despatch checks, label checks, metal detection CCP checks, temperature checks, product quality checks, animal welfare and HACCP monitoring.

· Log daily DNA samples.

· Follow testing schedule to make sure all swabs and product samples are taken on time and sent to the lab.

· Conduct start-up checks prior to Production beginning.

· Good Manufacturing Practice – checked daily.

· Conduct calibration of probes and scales.

· Deal with Holds, Quarantine and non-conformances (e.g., paperwork, quarantine, release…)

· Conduct glass and Hard Plastic audits on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week). The hours of work may change from time to time in accordance with the needs of the business, therefore flexibility is required.

We welcome applications from individuals who have worked in similar role and have extensive experience and knowledge of HACCP and preferably someone who has been an Internal Auditor; whilst this is preferred it is not essential. You will be a strong communicator and be able to engage with both internal and external customers. You will be a natural problem solver who is capable of meeting strict deadlines. You will have a proactive, can-do attitude and will produce high standards of work maintaining excellent attention to detail whilst striving for continuous improvement.

Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday

Hours of Work: Earliest starting 5.00am; latest finish time 3.30pm
