Trainee Butcher | Colyford

Colyford Butchers, is a well-established, independent, family-run shop in Colyford, Devon. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Trainee Butcher.

The Role

In this hands-on traineeship, you’ll gain valuable experience in all aspects of butchery under the guidance of our skilled and experienced team. You’ll have the opportunity to:

• Learn the art of breaking down whole carcasses into various cuts of meat.
• Master knife skills and the safe and proper use of butchering tools
• Assist with preparing a variety of fresh cuts for retail sale, following the highest quality standards.
• Gain knowledge of different meat cuts, their characteristics, and appropriate cooking methods
• Learn about customer service and assist with serving customers, potentially offering recommendations (depending on your progress)
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.

About You

• A strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a positive attitude.
• A keen interest in food and a passion for high-quality ingredients.
• Enthusiasm and the ability to take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
• Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to learn new skills quickly.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• The ability to lift moderate weights and work in a cold environment.
